What bandwidth is required for a smooth operation?
In order to work smoothly, a bandwidth between 20 and 40 Mb/s is recommended for the Teradici Client.
Is a sound output possible with remote editing?
Yes, the Teradici desktop client has been optimized for this. In contrast to Teamviewer or Remote Desktop, for example, it runs sound-synchronous.
What is the difference between MCUX and Editorial Management?
Editorial Management is part of the MediaCentral Cloud UX Platform. This is a pillar of the MCUX Platform.
Is a VPN connection established with the Teradici client?
No, not directly. When working in the cloud, no VPN connection is required. However, if the cloud VM or other remote features are used that need a connection to the Avid environment in the enterprise, a VPN connection is required.
What happens to the uploaded content after the end of the project? Are there any problems regarding the assignment of rights to cloud providers due to hidden contractual clauses?
No, no rights are assigned. In addition, all data created/used as part of an edit-on-demand contract will be deleted after the contract ends.
Is there a German YouTube video for the new Title Tool or can you offer a webinar in the future?
Currently there is no German tutorial available for the new Title Tool.
What are the local system requirements for the EOD workflow (bandwidth, computer configuration, etc.)?
Since no local Media Composer installation is necessary, a normal Windows PC or Mac with a bandwidth starting from 20 mb/s is perfectly sufficient.
Which formats are supported for file upload in EOD? Are P2 or XDCam structures also possible?
Yes, the EOD is a classic environment from MediaComposer with Nexis. It is therefore possible for users to upload entire folders and folder structures via the import function.
Are there options for voice over / mixing (related to EOD)?
Yes, USB devices can be transferred without any problems via the PC-Over-IP client. This also provides the possibility to realize a voice over with MediaComposer.
Are there connections from EOD to other cloud solutions such as FrameIO?
No, there are no other connection at the moment.
How long is the required lead time when ordering an EOD space? When can I cut for the first time?
When you order, we will send you a Redemption Code to your Avid master account. All you have to do is enter this code on the EOD platform and decide which data center you would like to use. Everything else – from provisioning the NEXIS in your desired configuration to booting up the MediaComposer clients – runs fully automatically in the background. The entire process from ordering to readiness only takes a few hours.
Does the Editorial Management Server implement live encoding for the files to be viewed? Or does the viewing require low resolution versions of the desired material?
By using a proxy, an optimal resolution is available for the work in Editorial Management. The resolution of the material to be viewed adapts on-the-fly according to the available internet bandwidth. This can be set as a mandatory option in the Editorial Management web interface.
How does the ingest of files into Editorial Management work? And can metadata including markers be transferred from field logging systems?
Yes, it is possible to set markers. In EOD, markers can be set for sequences or clips. These can be used in MediaComposer for further editing.
Is it possible to stream a high quality preview image, e.g. to a class 1 monitor at the editor‘s/customer’s site?
Yes, this is possible with qibb via a SierraLink connection. In this case the video is played back as compressed SDI. EOD does not support a high quality preview image.
Will AWS also become possible as cloud infrastructure?
With an edit-on-demand solution, the deployed cloud solution is managed entirely by Avid. Currently, there is a partnership with Microsoft. Individual solutions can be offered for comprehensive business cases.
The same applies to qibb: At qibb, customer-specific integrations are deployed in various clouds. On request, these can be supplemented with individual extensions running in other cloud systems. All common cloud providers are supported.
Will this also work with 5G?
Yes, bandwidths that are already available today are absolutely sufficient for trouble-free collaboration in the cloud.
Speaking of color grading: Will it be possible to grade a mixdown from MediaComposer using Resolve-in-the-Cloud?
Yes, theoretically it is possible. However, moving the workflow to the cloud is not recommended because the required reference monitor may be missing. In addition, due to compressed signals, the limits in the area of color accuracy can be quickly exceeded.
Is it possible to share "floating licenses" between locations with MediaComposer Cloud VM?
Yes, sharing floating licenses between locations is possible, provided the locations are connected and have the appropriate access rights.
